Story of Jarasandha

Episode#26

Bhrihadratha married the two daughters of King of Kashi with a solemn promise that he would honour them equally and keep both happy to the best of his ability.

Unfortunately none of them bore any child but he kept his precious word and tired to be happy. When it was time for vanprasthashram (old king goes to forest with their wives leaving behind kingdom to their eldest son), he too left with his two wives he met sage Kaushika of Gautama family, after hearing his anguish of childlessness, the sage felt pity and offered him prasad of a ripe mango and blessed him telling to give it to his wife and his wish would be fulfilled.

Adhering to his promise to make equal justice to his two wives he cut the mango into two pieces and gave them to eat. In due course of time both gave a birth to half a child each - two equal portion could complete normal child, feeling terrified of the two monstrous halves of a child, they wound them in two small cloth bundles and disposed them in the forest.

These were found by a she-demon and when she picked the two pieces, to her great dismay which joined immediately and formed a single healthy child, she discovered that it was king's child, felt intense pity and returned it to the king.

The delighted king happily handed over the child to his two wives - the child was known as Jarasandha.

The interesting story is that two separated parts joined together will still remain weak, with the tendency to split.

Gandhari: My son Duryodhana was invincible...!

Episode#81 Gandhari says "I do not envy the victory of Pandavas and ibagree that my intense grief has robbed me of my understanding! These Pandavas also are my sons. I know that Dusshasana and Sakuni brought about this destruction and that Arjuna and Bhima are not to be blamed! Mahabharata war - Day 14 Fall of Jayadratha

Episode#68 News of Arjuna's oath reached the enemy. The spies informed Duryodhana that Arjuna, having learnt that Jayadratha was the cause of Abhimanyu death, had vowed to kill Jayadratha before sunset the next day. Vriddhakshatra, the illustrious King of Sindhi's was blessed with a son Jayadratha. During his breath, a voice was heard to say: "This prince will attain great glory in the happy regions above after being slain in the battle. One who, among the warriors of all ages, ranks among the most illustrious, will in the field of battle shall get his head severed from the body." All living beings must die but truth is always bitter! Vriddhakshatra was grieved to hear the voice declare his son's end. In his disturbed state of mind, he uttered a curse "He, who shall cause my son's head roll down on the ground, his head shall be burst at that very moment into fragments."
