Gandhari intervenes - Arjuna challenges Karna...!

Episode#30

Gandhari enters Hall of Dice, and pleaded King Dhritarashtra to execute justice; she cautioned him that negative omens and spiteful curses coming from pious woman should not be connived as they may lead to downfall.

It was Gandhari request and also the fear of retribution of Panchala made king Dhritarashtra inclined towards humanity, he told Draupadi to forget everything, he asked her for three wishes and he assured it will be fulfilled, Draupadi first wish was to free her five husbands and that they would no longer be slaves; second wish was to return their weapons back to them and with outstanding dignity she refused to avail third wish reminding that "a kashatriya lady is eligible to only two wishes and not more; and that her husbands were capable of gaining what they have lost in the game of dice." Thus it was none other than the wise Draupadi who was instrumental in winning back dignity and freedom from slavery for her crestfallen husbands.

Karna, who silently watched her, was now feeling terribly ashamed about his snide remarks - he appreciated Draupadi's spontaneous but intelligent responses to different problematic situations in the hall of dice. He was touched by her intellect, brain power and sound judgement! None of the world's renowned beautiful women had ever accomplished such a masterstroke of triumph. She was like a life boat who gracefully rescued her growing husbands from the deep water! Karna reverance for her escalated to unimaginable heights.

None of the 21st century feminist is capable of surpassing Draupadi - especially the splendid manner in which she took toll of the situation and was in perfect control of herself displaying her balance personality; not to forget her immense inner-strenght to face the lowest kind of humiliation right before her husbands, followed by banishment to the wilderness - and worse of all - forgive the wrong doers.

Draupadi was unhappy with Yudhishtira decision of replaying the game of dice on Sakuni's provocation whereby he lost again! For the first time, she regretted marrying Pandavas as the Pandavas were ordered banishment for thirteen years in the forest.

As the Pandavas walked out, Arjuna paused where Karna was seated and swore bitterly, "Thirteen years from now, after I return from exile, I will kill you in the battle, and your wife - a widow!" He then pointed his finger to everyone sitting and exclaimed "Each one of you will have to pay a price for Draupadi's humiliation" saying this Arjuna walked out with stifled fury under his breathe.

Next day news of humiliation of Draupadi's modesty spread in every kingdom! Subhadra was furious - how could Duryodhana ever order his brother to disrobe Draupadi? She will never marry a person who doesn't have respect for women, she was full of mental anguish, every morning she decided to forget him and every night she shed tears and forgive him!

Why Sakuni did not want Duryodhana to marry Subhadra?

Episode#22 The cunning Sakuni knew that if Duryodhana married Subhadra then it would be impossible to forsake revenge and destroy Kuru dynasty, as Vasudev Krishna would not resort to any measures that would go against his sister Subhadra nor would take any step that would harm his paternal cousins - the Pandavas! Sakuni was intent on not allowing the Kauravas to enter any kind of relationship with the Yadavas clan or anybody related to Vasudev Krishna's family. Tales of Pandavas and Kauravas

Untold story episode #95 Vaisampayana the student of sage Vyasa narrated to Janamejaya, the tale of Pandavas and the Kauravas and all the kings who ruled the land of Bharat Varsh - this tale was known as Mahabharata. The tale was composed by his guru Sage Vyasa and written by Lord Ganesha. He questioned sage Vaisampayana, at the end "I am confused " said Janamejaya "who is the hero of this tale? And who is the villain?" "Who shall we call villain? Duryodhana who refused to share even a small piece of land? Yudhishtira, who gambled away his wife and kingdom? Bhisma, who prevented Dhritarashtra from becoming the king because he was blind,  Shantanu, who sacrificed his son's future to satisfy his own lust? Or is it Gandhari, for blindfolding herself to her son's misdeeds and faults? Or maybe Lord Krishna, who had long ago promised the Earth-goddess to rid the world of unrighteous kings? You decide who is hero and who is villain" said Vaisampayana.  ++
