Episode#42
When Vasudev Krishna heard about Samba he was distressed and he asked his elder brother Balarama help to rescue his son. Balarama readily agreed to go to Hastinapur to rescue his favourite nephew.
Since Balarama was Guru of Duryodhana, he was welcomed in Hastinapur with great dignity in the presence of all elders of Kuru family including Duryodhana. Balarama apologized for Samba's childish act and requested them to pardon him!
The Kauravas were perplexed about Laxmani impending marriage! Balarama assured them they would gladly accept Laxmani as their daughter-in-law, but Duryodhana was against the marriage as he was not ready that his qualified daughter marries to illiterate brat Samba that too the son of his enemy Krishna - today he was in such a dilemma and had a no choice but to accept Balarama proposal...!
After a long silence Duryodhana replied "With all due respect to Guru Balarama, I cannot disobey your order, but you will understand my feelings as a father, let Laxamani speak about her wish to marry Samba or otherwise!"
Balarama agreed and Duryodhana called Laxmani in the courtroom. Bhisma Pitamah, being eldest of Kuru family asked Laxamani "Do you agree to marry Vasudev Krishna's son Samba? My dear child, please do not decide under any duress...! And yes - your decision will remain final in this courtroom!"
Laxamani was looking down to her feet, she was very smart she was aware now it will be difficult for her to get marry, since she was touched by Samba, if she misses this opportunity to marry Samba, then, thereafter her life would be different, she has no clue whether Abhimanyu will accept her or not? But Laxamani was a brave girl like her father and she has courage to fight in any odd situation, she thought that getting married to illiterate brat Samba means committing suicide, it is better to remain unmarried and see what life has store for her in coming future.
There was a pin drop silence in the courtroom all were awaiting for her reply and most curious was her father Duryodhana, she looked up to her father and she knew he will support her in any odd situation. Her mother was hiding her face and crying she was confused about the fate of her daughter, she looked at her brother Kumar Laxmana who was looking at her and she slowly shook his head, tears fell out of her eyes and she smiled at her brother and then she looked around the courtroom all eyes were looking at her and anxious to know her decision, she looked at Bhisma Pitamah and he asked "Yes my child what have you decided, would you like to marry Samba?" She wiped her tears and shook her head, she shouted loudly "NO" and ran away out of the courtroom.
There was a big smile on the face of Duryodhana, Bhanumati and Kumar Laxmana - Balarama didn't argue they released Samba and went back to Dwarka. Duryodhana was happy thinking this was the biggest blow on the face of Yadavas especially Krishna by rejecting his son Samba.
If Laxamani had agreed to marry Samba then too there was a chance this war would be averted - perhaps...!
Duryodhana wanted Laxamani to get marry before the war starts; he neither knew the outcome of the war and now....Fate of his daughter.
