Episode#54
Far away - Karna sat sulking as the conch blew followed by war cries. He felt dejected for being kept away from the battle as per Bhisma Pitamaha demand. He fervently wished the early fall of Bhisma to enable him to enter the battlefield and kill his most bitter enemy - Arjuna...!
He remembered Kunti had met him in the previous morning after he finished his prayer to Sun God when she revealed the shocking truth that he was her first child - her eldest son and the eldest of the Pandavas brothers, as he touched her feet she begged to him "I want you to make peace with your brothers and that makes you the eldest Pandavas, you shall be then crowned as the Prince of Hastinapur." It was a magnificent offer but Karna was a sincere and pure hearted person known for his righteousness, he refused to accept her offer, she begged again saying "Since I was the unwedded mother of yours, I was afraid to claim you as my son, please forgive me and give me a chance to redeem that wrong" but Karna remained steadfast with his decision and stated "I cannot make peace with your sons for the sole reason that I cannot betray my friend Duryodhana, I would rather die for him then be a traitor!"
Kunti with her folded hands again promise him his honour, his name his rightful place in the family, the kingdom and even Draupadi as his queen!" Karna was shocked to hear Kunti string of promises and though very determined, he did not want to leave an unhappy mother behind thus he promised her "I shall spare your five sons except Arjuna since I have sworn to kill him or he may kill me, in any case you shall be the mother of five sons" promising her thus Karna left a tearful Kunti behind him.
If Kunti has disclosed the same to the Pandavas about Karna being the sixth and the eldest Pandavas, this war could have been averted, but why did Kunti choose to remain silent? Karna wiped his tears silently as the war sounds came thundering from far away.
