Episode#60 The sixth day was hall-marked by a phenomenal slaughter, Drona charioteer was killed, Drona took hold of rein and - what followed would be indescribable in words...! Drona went about like fire flashing through the bales of cotton. Both the armies were soon disintegrated; violence continued in leaps and bounds, blood flowed in torrents and the field was covered by debris comprising of dead soldiers, elephants, horses and broken chariots. Episode#59 On fifth day the battle grew fiercer and Drona, Bhisma and Salya collectively attacked Bhima. Shikhandi supported Bhima by pouring a shower of arrows on Bhisma, as soon as Shikhandi stepped in, Bhisma turned away, as Shikhandi was born a girl. Bhisma was however destined to die since abiding by Kshatriya's norms not to attack on woman would bring his death closer. Episode#58 The fourth day battle was not dissimilar in any other way - replete with incessant killings and devastation. Yet the great war stands as the main central event in Mahabharata which played a pivotal role in comprehending the different aspects and dimensions of the great epic, it has enthralled a number of generations that followed them. At break of dawn, Pitamah re-arrayed the Kauravas regiment; being surrounded by Drona, Duryodhana and others, he appeared very radiant like Indra! Episode#57 On the third day, Bhisma formulated his leading army in the array of the Eagle while Duryodhana and his forces protected the rear and took precision over the minutes details assuring that there could be no mishap for them on that day. Arjuna and Dhrishtadyumna arrayed their forces with skill. They decided to assume the array of Crescent formation of their army which was more effectual to cope as against the Eagle formation of the enemy's forces. On right side of the crescent stood Bhima and on the left Arjuna before they led the respective division. The battle begin, all arms were engaged, the blood flowed in torrents while the dust rose by chariots, horses and elephants rose to mask the face of the sun. Episode#56 The second day, the Pandavas army having fared badly on the first day of the battle, Dhrishtadyumna, devised corrective measures and the army was carefully arrayed to infuse confidence in the warriors! Duryodhana filled with confidence due to the outcome of their tremendous success on the first day stood in the centre and addressed his warriors "My armoured heroes, our victory is assured, fight and care not for life" he shouted with great pride. Episode#55 The First Day of the battle reverberated with the cumulative sounds of kettledrums, trumpets, horns and conch that made sky ring their clamour. Horses neighed, elephants charged as they trumpeted loud and the warriors shouted their "lion roars" Arrows flew in the air like burning meteors.
