Story of Jarasandha

Episode#26 Bhrihadratha married the two daughters of King of Kashi with a solemn promise that he would honour them equally and keep both happy to the best of his ability. Unfortunately none of them bore any child but he kept his precious word and tired to be happy. When it was time for vanprasthashram (old king goes to forest with their wives leaving behind kingdom to their eldest son), he too left with his two wives he met sage Kaushika of Gautama family, after hearing his anguish of childlessness, the sage felt pity and offered him prasad of a ripe mango and blessed him telling to give it to his wife and his wish would be fulfilled. Adhering to his promise to make equal justice to his two wives he cut the mango into two pieces and gave them to eat.
