Subhadra insist Duryodhana to abduct her...

Episode#23

Balarama was happy to hear about the Subhadra and Duryodhana alliance but did not offer any commitment to Duryodhana! On the contrary, he asked Duryodhana to wait for some time until he obtained the consent from his family before finalizing the proposal, Duryodhana stayed overnight at Balarama place; he was eager to meet Subhadra but there was not the remotest opportunity to do so, the only option for him was to wait until dawn.

Subhadra did not sleep a wink the whole night, at the crack of the dawn, wrapped in a sari and towel thrown covering her shoulders, she walked towards Yamuna river, keeping the towel on nearby stone, she walked in the river and after a few dips, she came out drenched and lay down on her back her eyes closed and her legs playing in the river water.

Duryodhana sat on the stone and stared at her beautiful face with her wet hair scattered all over, he bent down to put his lips on her, but she opened her eyes and said "As per the custom of the Yadavas, you cannot touch a girl unless you marry her" Duryodhana nodded with smile and replied, "Today I have revealed my wish to Guru Balarama and I am sure he will agree!" Subhadra wrapping herself looked at Duryodhana and said "Have you ever thought about Krishna?" Duryodhana stood dumbfounded and totally speechless! Seeing his helplessness, she placed her head on his shoulder and said with great sobbing "If you really love me than abduct me, that is only way out and I think that is my destiny." She looked at him with tearful eyes and walked away...

Duryodhana pondered - he stood on emotional crossroads, by kidnapping her, he would not succeed in crossing Mathura city and even if he did, it would be no less than declaring war with Yaduvansh, which he dared not since he was aware of the strength of Narayani Sena which was much powerful than his own, besides, he would also invite the wrath of Vasudev Krishna by doing this outrageous act.

Next morning, Duryodhana started for Hastinapur and Vasudev Krishna started for Mathura simultaneously to dissuade his brother Balarama from committing the alliance of Subhadra with Duryodhana... what a coincidence indeed.
