Duryodhana marries princess Bhanumati of Kalinga...

Episode#32

Duryodhana was heartbroken when he received the news that Subhadra married Arjuna, suddenly he went into depression; lost all interest in his kingdom and the materialistic world! Crestfallen as he was, he decided to opt for renunciation but with great difficulty, Sakuni and Karna consoled him and advised him to forget and move ahead in live.

The cunning Sakuni blamed Vasudev Krishna for planning the abduction (Duryodhana remembered to what Subhadra said to kidnap her that is her destiny) Balarama was not happy with the idea of sharing Draupadi among five brothers, he also was not happy the way Yudhishtira gambled away his kingdom and his wife Draupadi, according to him Pandavas are biggest fools on the earth. Duryodhana was very angry and he decided to take a revenge on Arjuna as well on Vasudev Krishna.

Soon after Subhadra's marriage, Duryodhana got married to Princess Bhanumati the daughter of King Chitranagada of Kalinga. The only pre-requisite for the groom in her swayamwara was that he should be strong prince with well built physique; Duryodhana met all the requirements, besides his expertise in mace and malyudh from Guru Balarama was known to all.

King Chitranagada welcomed Duryodhana, his friends Karna and Aswasthama and was delighted to see Duryodhana since he wished his daughter Bhanumati to be married in Kuru clan. He explained the conditions of the contest and said Bhanumati shall choose the man of her choice among the assembled Princes by garlanding him! She will be introduce to all invited Princes through her closet friend.

As she traversed through the Royal court, she crossed across several rows of seated Princes - suddenly she glanced at the handsome Karna and she was deeply infatuated by his strong physique and the aura of his divine earrings!

In the process she ignored Duryodhana who was seated close to Karna and feeling intensely jealous, an irate Duryodhana lifted Bhanumati like one would steal flower from someone's garden hurriedly, he challenged all other Princes who try to stop him.

He justified this act by furnishing his grandfather Bhisma's illustration who had abducted his grandmothers; needless to say he was out of his mind - and miles away from righteousness.

Their marriage was celebrated in much pomp and glory by the subjects of Hastinapur, she was aware of the Kauravas and Pandavas rivalry. Bhanumati was known as Satiratna in Mahabharata since she proved to be the best model wife who is ever ready to sacrifice anything for the happiness of her husband.
