One day Duryodhana closely observed the mace dual between his son Laxmana Kumar and Abhimanyu; he discovered that Abhimanyu was far ahead in mace fighting than his son Kumar. He decided to send his son Kumar to Guru Balaram to avail to his expertise training, Laxmana Kumar was soft, slim, sweet face, long curly hair looking more like a poet than Kshatriya.

His daughter Laxmani expressed her desire to join her brother to Dwaraka, but Bhanumati was against sending her young daughter as that region was brimming with thugs and bandits, Duryodhana proudly said "Who will dare to touch the daughter of kuru king Duryodhana? And both laughed aloud. Laxmani to stated "Mother I am quite old to protect myself in any such situations." And Abhimanyu said with his superb masculine confidence "Anyone dares to touch Princess Laxmani, I will cut him into pieces." Kumar clapped and said "I have full confidence in Abhimanyu"

While Laxmani thought that he nurtured the same feelings for her as she had for him and her joy doubled, Duryodhana was happy to see the bonding between the cousins but at the same time he regretted that such bonding was missing between him and the Pandavas.
