Abhimanyu kidnaps Vatsala

Episode#39

After Pandavas lost their Kingdom in the dice game and were exiled, Balaram's wife Revathi was worried about her daughter alliance - Pandavas had lost their Kingdom and Abhimanyu was no longer a prince, just an commoner, they decided that Duryodhana son Laxmana Kumar was more ideally suited to Vatsala since he was a prince possessing a large kingdom. This they proposed Duryodhana to accept Vatsala as their daughter-in-law.

On other hand, Abhimanyu who had spent considerable time of his childhood in Dwaraka was already in love with slim, slender Vatsala, hearing the news of Vatsala marriage, the heartbroken Abhimanyu disclosed his silent love to his uncle Krishna who advised that in past he had already invited ill-feelings from Balaram during the Arjuna and Subhadra marriage, he advised him to take the help of his cousin brother Ghatotkacha (son of Bhima and Hidimba) when Abhimanyu approached him, the latter was happy to help him.

As planned Ghatotkacha helped Abhimanyu and Vatsala to marry in secrecy outside Dwaraka, by using his unique magic, he transformed himself into Vatsala and participated in kanyadaan ritual ceremony. Ghatotkacha pressed the soft hands of Laxmana Kumar that he almost fainted. When Ghatotkacha true identity was revealed, Duryodhana flew into rage - the history had repeated itself, he had missed out on Subhadra who got married to Arjuna; now his son had missed out on Vatsala who was married to Arjuna son Abhimanyu! This recurrence ignited immeasurable hatred in him for Pandavas especially Arjuna and Vasudev Krishna.

His daughter Laxmani was intelligent and courageous, in fact, she was very much like her father Duryodhana - brave and outspoken and several Princes were eager to marry her, but she was deeply impressed by Abhimanyu and his outstanding archery skills and exceptional mace fighting, she had fallen in love with him since her childhood, her parents planned for a swayamwara after return from Dwaraka to enable her to select the prince of her choice.
